About Roscoes Chicken
EspañolIn the 1940�s, there was a popular all-night restaurant in New York. It was very popular with the �night life� crowd. It was the only place they could eat late at night in the downtown area. The most popular dish with this crowd was the chicken and waffles. It consisted of a breast, thigh, and an Aunt Jemima waffles on the side.
To find change, Hudson migrated to Los Angeles in the early 1970�s. He made a few observations about the food scene in L.A., one being that the only restaurants in Hollywood were in hotels. Lack of funding from banks and high rate of failure among restaurants made it hard for Mr. Hudson to get funding from lending institutions to open a restaurant.
However, despite these challenges, Hudson�s observations became the foundation for which his vision was established.
In 1976, with little money, and the help of his friends, Herb Hudson�s vision was realized on Gower Street, in the heart of Hollywood his chicken and waffle take out restaurant was born.
Mr. Hudson named his restaurant after the chef, Roscoe, who developed the recipes and Roscoe�s House of Chicken �N Waffles was open for business.
