Job Title: Host

Division:  KC Hopps

 

Summary:  Hosts first priority is to take care of the guest as outlined in the KC Hopps training manual. Hosts need to greet all guests in a friendly manner and tell all guests “thanks” when the guests are exiting the building. Hosts are the first impression a guest has of the restaurant and it is critical that it is a good one.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Greet all guests in a friendly manner when entering the building.
  • Thank all guests that are leaving the building.
  • Answer the phones within 2 rings in a friendly and professional manner using appropriate verbiage like “may I please put you on hold”.
  • Use the carryout order pad on all to go orders and handle all to go orders in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Run the wait in an organized and calm fashion so that appropriate wait times are quoted to guests.
  • Notify a manager when a guest’s expectations are not meet.
  • Be aware if a table is not greeted by a server in a timely manner.
  • Bus and clean tables as needed so the guests can be seated.
  • Notify management when a large party comes in that might back up the kitchen.
  • Inform management of any issues with the guest so the manager can resolve if needed.                                          
  • Do all sidework and cleaning duties including restroom checks.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at charity and community events.

  • 100% knowledge of all menu items, plate presentations, KC Hopps policies and philosophies.
  • Always be a great team member, possess a positive attitude at all times and develop a good working relationship with the rest of employees and managers
  • Come prepared for each shift to work and put your best foot forward (good attitude and proper uniform).

Education/Experience:

No previous experience is required but it is preferred.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as training manuals, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before guests.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be required to operate the Point of Sale computer systems like Micros.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

When in the position of “lead host”, an individual instruct other hosts on duties.

Pay Rate:  $8 - $11/hour based on experience
