Job Title: Cook/Prep Cook

Division:  KC Hopps

 

Summary:  Cooks number one priority is to prepare food to KC Hopps specifications while following health and safety guidelines.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Must come to work in proper uniform and non-slip shoes at scheduled time.
  • Must learn station and recipes/specs with 100% accuracy.
  • Must portion and use the scale to weigh all items correctly.
  • Must pass all tests.
  • Must prepare food within KC Hopps time standards. 
  • Must continually clean and organize station throughout the shift.
  • Knowledge that food cannot be prepared without a rung-in ticket.
  • Compliance to all health and safety standards 100% of the time.
  • Must notify a manger if a food item must be re-made.
  • Continual communication with manager or expo position on time of tickets.
  • Closing cooks cannot clock out without management permission to make sure all cleaning duties are complete.
  • Wash dishes if DMO is not scheduled.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at charity and community events.

  • 100% knowledge of all menu items, plate presentations, K.C. Hopps policies and philosophies.

  • Come prepared for each shift to work and put your best foot forward (good attitude and proper uniform).

Education/Experience:

Previous restaurant kitchen experience is required.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as order tickets, training manuals, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively with other team members and management.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:

None

 

Certificates and Licenses:

Food Handler’s cards where applicable.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

When in the position of “lead cook”, an individual may instruct other cooks of opening/closing duties.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend long periods of time on their feet and will have to work at a fast pace. The employee will work with knives and other potentially sharp equipment on a regular basis.  The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; risk of radiation and vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay Rate:  $9 - $15/hour based on experience
