Job Title: Manager

Division:  Restaurant


Summary: Assist in the operation of a single unit restaurant for KC Hopps Ltd. Meet prescribed cost control area, learn annual budgets and exceed all standards of cleanliness and organization while providing customers with an exceptional dinning and entertaining experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties maybe assigned):

  • Excellent Service, Quality Products, & Cleanliness of restaurant.
  • Maximize the long-term sales of restaurant.
  • Maintain FOH employees training and staffing.
  • Maintain high employee morale.
  • Actively recruit KC Hopps managers.
  • Help execute menu changes.
  • Help execute quarterly and annual plans.
  • Represent KC Hopps Ltd. professionally at all public functions.
  • Help complete assigned duties from Duck Audits.
  • 100% accurate cash handling.
  • Touch all tables - Manager table visits must be at 100%.
  • Promote a positive and honest work environment.
  • Execute directives of upper managers and superiors.
  • Assist in ensuring security of the facility with effective issuance of keys and alarm codes.
  • Continually work to improve all cost controls of company.
  • Make ongoing decisions promoting the longevity of equipment
  • Make ongoing decisions promoting the longevity of the facility.
  • Adhere to all company policies.


Financial Responsibilities:

  • Maintain specific cost control area budgets.
  • Make good sound decisions on repairs and maintenance of facility and equipment.
  • Start to learn Profit and Loss statement
  • Keep turnover at a minimum by treating staff well and making good hiring decisions.
  • Always ensure future sales.

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or at least 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience if hired from outside the company.


Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as order tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, cost controls and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and Inventory software.


Certificates and Licenses:

ServSafe certification must be obtained.  In the city of Kansas City and North Kansas City, Missouri, a food handler’s card  and liquor card must also be obtained. 


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 10+ employees in the restaurant.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is may be exposed to extreme heat (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; risk of radiation and vibration.

This position requires a minimum work schedule of 50.  Longer hours may be required to accomplish all responsibilities.



Outside jobs either on a regular part-time basis or as a one-time event are prohibited unless specific written approval is granted by the V.P. of Restaurant Operations.
