Job Title: General Manager

Summary: Successfully operate a single unit restaurant for KC Hopps Ltd., meeting prescribed annual budgets; follow annual plan; develop management team & staff; maintain highest standard for quality food & beverage; and exceed all standards of cleanliness and organization while providing customers with an exceptional dining and entertaining experience.

Call to action daily the ultimate job responsibility of using each decision to ensure future sales, supplying positive - yet realistic - solutions to each situation that may require decisions that build individual respect and credibility for each manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for Excellent Service, Quality Products, & Cleanliness of entire restaurant.
  • Maximize the long term sales of restaurant.
  • Develop management team per the growth needs of the company.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are being met at all times.
  • Work with the Kitchen Manager to ensure all health, sanitization and safety procedures are being implemented at 100% level.
  • Treat staff with dignity and respect. Maintain quality staff members, therefore reducing turnover.
  • Continually recruit qualified managers to join the KC Hopps, Ltd. family.
  • Supervise the following:
    • Financial/Accounting Procedures
    • Personnel Management Procedures
    • Marketing Procedures
    • Training Procedures
    • Banquets/Events Procedures
  • Supervise all menu changes.
  • Supervise all off-premise charity events and large catering events.
  • Represent KC Hopps Ltd. professionally at all public functions.
  • Supervise website development.
  • Scheduling of all managers, including vacations with the V.P. of Operations approval.
  • Evaluate & authorize payroll to measure employee compensation vs. performance.
  • Maintain good investor relations.
  • Monitor and manage Professional Employer Organization (Syndeo).
  • Supervise “Duck Audit” program.
  • Promote a positive and honest work environment.
  • Execute directives of superiors and board of directors.
  • Embrace all Home Office policies and execute fully.
  • Ensure Table Visit Program is being executed at 100%.
  • Ensure Mindshare Program is being executed at 100%.
  • Ensure Tip Reporting Program is being executed at 100%.
  • Host/Server/Bartender Training Program is being executed at 100%.
  • Continually spearhead the improvement of the companies’ policies, procedures and systems.
  • Continually work to improve all cost controls of company.
  • Make ongoing decisions promoting the longevity of equipment
  • Make ongoing decisions promoting the longevity of the facility.
  • Ensure security of the facility with effective issuance of keys and alarm codes.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Assist Home Office in the creation of all annual budgets.
  • Evaluate all “Profit and Loss” statements for restaurant. (Weekly & period)
  • Responsible for in-house accounting procedures. (Weekly & period)
  • Organization of Guest Rewards program at restaurant.
  • Responsible for Annual and Quarterly Planning/Reporting.
  • Complete awareness of insurance as to what helps us receive favorable rates.
  • (Health, dental, disability, worker’s comp., property/casualty, & unemployment)
  • Administrate accurate payroll bi-weekly.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

At least 3 years previous GM full-service restaurant management experience. A university degree with emphasis in Hotel and Restaurant Management or equivalent experience is preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, cost controls and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of POS, Word Processing software and Inventory software.

Certificates and Licenses:

ServSafe certification must be obtained. In the city of Kansas City and North Kansas City, Missouri , a food handler’s card and liquor card must also be obtained. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise and approve all hiring & termination of FOH Management, BOH Management and hourly staff positions.

This position requires a minimum work schedule of five days a week and 50 hours per week. Longer hours may be required to accomplish all responsibilities.
