Community Sales Manager


Job Summary

A natural salesperson and leader, you will take the Jim ‘N Nick’s Community Bar-B-Q brand to new heights with your networking, community partnerships, and sales skills. You will be responsible for working with the VP of Marketing and the Senior Community Sales Manager to increase profitable catering sales in your market. Liked and trusted by clients, you will be adept at maintaining and growing productive business relationships in the community. You will represent Jim ‘N Nick’s as you sell our products and brand. Most importantly, you will be a Jim ‘N Nick’s ambassador, educating others on the products that will make them love our Bar-B-Q as much as you do.


Key Performance Elements/Essential Functions


  • Time will be spent by focusing on Profitable Catering Sales (60%), 4 Walls Sales (20%), and Community Connections and Partnerships (20%)
  • Grow Catering Sales and Develop a Pipeline
  • Build Community Relationships
  • Understand current book of business and re-connect quarterly
  • Perform Administrative duties like creating and following a routing schedule (example - Monday is north, Tuesday is South, etc.)
  • Use Customer Relationship Management Software to increase performance and impact; update daily
  • Create and follow a plan (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annually)
  • Working with the Catering Manager, participate in a post event review for all large catering events – what went well, what didn’t go well
  • Understand brand strategy, current products and follow all guidelines
  • Understand the JNN goodwill budget and how it can be leveraged to help our communities, and ensure each restaurant stays within that specified budget
  • Attend events at a minimum of 1 per week or a specified % of sales (varies per store)
  • Know and follow the sales process as defined in the Community Sales Manager Playbook
  • Supply information to Catering Sales Center for all proposals
  • Perform monthly review with Catering Sales Center, Catering Manager, and LO to discuss performance
  • Gather 5-star reviews and testimonials from guests
  • Pitch/discuss pit master room/in-restaurant dining
  • Work with Catering Manager to deliver bounce backs with redemption numbers at events
  • Be the gate keeper of the community sales toolbox and ensure it is used at all openings and events
  • Create local and community-centric posts for social media that assist marketing both internally and externally
  • Know sales numbers – track against last year and budget
  • Understand the clients’ needs
  • Communicate with Catering Manager/LO/GM to educate them on the client’s needs 


Qualifications and Attributes


Education / Training / Work Experience

  • Restaurant and hospitality experience preferred (1 – 2 years)
  • Sales experience preferred (1 – 2 years)
  • College degree preferred in hospitality, communication, business or marketing
  • Experience in account management (1-2 years preferable)
  • Social Media savvy and Customer Relationship Management software experience is a plus


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


  • Ability to generate leads that result in closed sales to meet or exceed budgeted profitable catering sales goal
  • Ability to problem solve, prioritize, manage multiple and changing timelines, and multi-task with limited supervision while meeting established deadlines
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Must exhibit dependability, flexibility and professional demeanor
  • Must maintain high standards of personal ethics and professionalism; is consistently honest and truthful in all situations
  • Superior communication skills to influence and sell by building strong relationships
  • Strong and effective written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of various business disciplines (sales, finance and administrative)
  • Must be able to work a variety of scheduled hours, based on the needs of the business (i.e. late hours, holidays, weekends); regular and predictable attendance
  • Proficient computer skills, including intermediate MS Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


Physical Requirements


  • Travel up to 10% of the time and the ability to work weekends and evenings as needed
  • Some lifting and the movement of moderate loads require a 30-pound lifting requirement
  • Responsible for utilizing office equipment. The effective operation of equipment requires the use of all limbs, fingers and the ability to see
  • Spend approximately 20% of his/her time standing and walking swiftly
