Position Summary:

Manages the day-to-day operations of a retail store ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, human resources management, and managing operating costs and shrinkage. Hires, trains, maintains employee and guest relations. Responsible for instilling in all employees a strong desire to deliver superior customer service to every customer. Promotes the DTLR/Villa name and concept through the development of strong community relationships.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains fiscal performance measured as follows:
    • Promotes year to year sales growth
    • Achieves sales margins per operating budget guidelines
    • Maintains payroll costs per operating budget guidelines
  2. Ensures control and protection of retail store inventory as follows:
    • Controls shrink to company standards
    • Inspects and reviews deliveries for proper quality and quantity
    • Completes accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts
    • Accurately accounts for all un-saleable merchandise
  3. Ensures appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandising and presentation; signage, and assortment in all departments; ensures selling floor is adequately stocked.
  4. Promotes and develops good community relations by looking for and being involved in community activities and projects.
  5. Ensures that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer services.
  6. Continually keeps Operations Leadership informed of issues, incidents or related store matters as necessary and/or outlined in store policies, procedures or trainings.
  7. Analyzes and measures business trends; develops and implements plans tomaximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives.
  8. Reviews department/store trends and recommends and initiates changes for maximizing goals and objectives.
  9. Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures through regularstore management and staff meetings, store walk-throughs and audits, etc.
  10. Continually evaluates and reacts to performance issues and actively recruits associate candidates.
  11. Trains and develops store associates in all aspects of the business; directs and monitors training and development for all store personnel including Assistant Managers.
  12. Follows standard security and controls shrink by enforcing shoplifter identification procedures and employee theft prevention.
  13. Conducts annual performance evaluations for store associates and provides input to the District Manager for the evaluation of Assistant Managers.
  14. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications/Skills And Knowledge Requirements:
  1. Preferred management experience or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing sales setting.
  2. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel via car, plane or train to meet business needs.
  3. Work requires a solid knowledge of business and an excellent command of the English language to effectively communicate with other employees, management and customers.
  4. Individuals must have demonstrated the ability to handle responsibility and understand the needs of the street lifestyle customer.
  5. Working knowledge of Microsoft office products is required.
  6. Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  7. Some analytical ability is required to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
  8. Individuals must be able to stand for extended periods of time, stock shelves by climbing ladders or stairs, lift and move inventory up to 50 lbs., determine colors for merchandise stock and customer assistance, and work varied hours/days/locations to oversee store operations.
